- NOPNA helps defeat Large Retail Chain on Divisadero
In a major victory for the neighborhood, the planning commission rejected the
operating permit for a Batteries Plus’ application, a formula retail store that wanted to

Central City Progressives.

- NOPA in the Big Apple?
Thanks to freelance writer and NOPA neighbor Nicole Spiridakis,
our neighborhood was recently written up in the travel section
of the NY Times! Despite being edited significantly,
the article explains to the world how NOPA has "emerged as a
cultural bridge between hippie Haight Street and the rest of
the City. Always good to get PR in the NY Times. Our
merchants should be delighted. Read more.
- We’re in "7X7"!
NOPA is highlighted in the April issue of "7X7 San Francisco" magazine’s
"Featured Neighborhood" section. Titled simply by its zip code, "94117,"
the article, by Nina Weiss, describes the businesses, restaurants and
nightlife that make our corner of San Francisco an increasingly attractive
place to hang out.

action. The message: we want our city officials to take action - enough is
enough. Please get involved. There has never been a more important time to
get active in the neighborhood. Here is what you can do:
